WELCOME
If you have received this guide, it is probably because you have booked a pre-wedding or couples session. I don't have the slightest idea about fashion, I dress very simply and I don't even know how to combine colours for my day-to-day life, but it is true that for photos all this changes. I would like to emphasise that this is not a rule or anything obligatory to follow, on the contrary it is a kind of advice/guideline so that the photos turn out as good as possible. You are probably not aware of the real importance that the wardrobe has in the photo session, but it really is something that would surprise you.
INTRO
Locations and outfits go hand in hand and for me they play a very important role in the way the photos are perceived, the way I shoot and the way I edit.
If you have chosen me as your photographer, you will have seen the colors that predominate in most of the photos and what are important when editing.
Next I propose an exercise, look at the photo below, imagine her with an orange or pink shirt.
Wouldn't that be the same, right?
Well, we have just seen how important it is to know how to choose the colors for our photo shoot.
BE YOU
The fundamental idea behind it all is to be yourselves. I don't want you to dress in a way that you don't feel identified with at all. The idea is to enjoy yourself and have a good time.
Comfort above all .
Comfort is important, first and foremost, I need them to be comfortable. The idea is that they don't have to worry about whether the button is undone or if those pants are too tight. What I want to convey with this is to wear clothes that allow them to move freely and that we can do anything.
Bring several items of clothing just in case. It is better to have several options available so you can combine them in case something goes wrong or you don't feel comfortable.
For me, the most important thing in a photo is to be able to capture the naturalness and feelings of people, that's why sometimes a simple outfit is the best.
The choice of color
The choice of color is something super important as I mentioned before, since if we are going to take photos in a rural or mountainous environment, a pink outfit, for example, would not fit very well.
More neutral colours such as grey, beige, white, black, cream or copper colours will fit perfectly.
What usually looks best in some environments are earthy or metallic tones. Although there are colors such as olive green, mustard yellow and garnet red that also fit well depending on the environment.
THE PRINTS
Yes and no. Let me explain, t-shirts printed with very large logos of cartoons or a specific brand will take away the spotlight from us and will make the viewer's gaze focus on the print or the brand and not on the story we are trying to convey.
Something very different happens with prints that give us a pattern, for example a dress with flowers or polka dots is something that suits us very well and that is by no means ruled out, on the contrary, it gives us a lot of play.
It is very important in the case of prints that only one of the two can go with these, the other must go simpler, since combining patterns is very difficult, for example if she goes with a floral dress and he with a checked shirt it will be very complicated to match that, so one of the two can use prints that mark a pattern, the other preferably not.
FOOTWEAR AND ACCESSORIES
If one of the two usually wears jean or leather jackets, a hat, plays the ukulele, guitar, etc., it can be very interesting to take a couple of photos playing that instrument. You can bring everything you want for the session, colored smoke bombs (take into account the color of the smoke with the type of clothing and location), sparklers and anything else you want that can help us carry out the session.
Sometimes during a photo shoot you tend to walk and stand for a while, so it is best to wear shoes that are as comfortable as possible, without being completely sporty.
THE ATTITUDE
I have been photographing people for years who have sometimes never been in front of a professional camera, so don't worry, I just need them to have a good attitude and to let themselves go.
THE LOCATION
Where the photo shoot will take place is always a dilemma for everyone. But thank God we are in an area that has a variety of locations and it is really easy to decide.
But like everyone, I love to discover new places and do my best, so I would like to know if you have any special place full of magic that we can go to, I would be delighted.
Generally speaking, to make things easier, the session can be done from the terrace of your house to the Eiffel Tower if you want 😉
For all this it is important to determine the type of session, what they want, the photos can be in:
- Interiors (Their own homes or renting an Airbnb)
-Rural environment (mountains, forests, meadows...)
-Beach
-Urban (On the streets of a city or town)
And to finish
Well, as I mentioned at the beginning of this article, none of this is a rule or something that you have to follow to the letter, they are just some recommendations that will help us make everything go a little better. The most important thing in all of this is that you enjoy the day, that you are yourselves and that you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I hope that this guide has been useful to you and that you enjoy this whole process.
